Pirates Invade Windjammer Festival

3

Camden - Pirates sailed into the Windjammer Festival this weekend. They took over Camden, bringing along their swords and cannons.

The Windjammer Festival focuses on Maine's maritime history and the pirates we spoke to say Maine was once a favorite pirate hide out, even if the history books don't say so.

"Now, if you're a pirate and you want to have a hideout and you want to go safely and stay in your hideout, you don't want to do any raiding around your hideout and you don't want to tell anybody where your hideout is. So that's why history doesn't really record all the pirates that were on the Maine coast," explained Captain Crudbeard of the Pirates of the Dark Rose.

Here in 2012, these pirates still think Maine's coast is a good place to dock their ship.
