Lincoln - The Lincoln News has been through a lot in the past few years.

Its building burned down in 2009 and earlier this summer, the owner died unexpectedly, but through all of that, the paper has never missed a week.

Laura Roberts introduces us to the 21 year-old who's now in charge.

Maine is home to many family businesses and for Colby Tenggren, her family's business is news.

"The paper's been in the family for three generations now. I'd be the third generation."

In 2005, her father Kevin Tenggren became the owner of The Lincoln News when his mother died. Earlier this summer, he passed away unexpectedly at only 46, leaving the newspaper's ownership in his daughter's hands.

"The thought of losing him never even crossed my mind or the thought of me inheriting the paper never really crossed my mind."

The UMaine student turned to the paper's staff who she calls her second family. Tenggren says many of them have been working there for as long as she can remember.

"I'm only 21 and I took on ownership, but they're training me well. Thank God we're all like a family or else I'd be intimidated and not know where to start."

Together they made sure the paper didn't miss a week.

"I want to carry on the legacy as best I can and I want to make sure that he's proud looking down on me."

Tenggren says she'll never be able to fill her dad's shoes.

"I can't. He's got such a big imprint he left here it's going to be hard for me to fill, but I think that I'm younger and I can offer a different view and opinion on it."

In a few weeks, she'll be juggling her classes at UMaine and ownership of the paper. But she hopes with her new ideas and the staff's experience, the Lincoln News will remain a success for years to come.
