Mainers Head to Florida to Help Prep for Isaac

Some volunteers from Maine are on their way to Florida to help out with Red Cross relief efforts as tropical storm Isaac approaches the coast.

Local Red Cross officials tells us 15 people will be in the Tampa area by Saturday. The volunteers will be down there ahead of the storm and may move west into Florida's panhandle depending on the track of Isaac.

Jason Shedlock from the Red Cross of Maine said, "A lot of folks will be doing sheltering - working in shelters, getting folks registered in shelters. We also have some health services people as well as disaster and mental health to help people cope with leaving their homes and dealing with a storm like this."

Maine Red Cross officials say they may send more volunteers early next week.
