Dismiss Kennebunk Prostitution Case Says Lawyer of Accused Thomaston Man

3

The lawyer for a Thomaston insurance agent accused of being involved in an alleged Kennebunk prostitution operation has asked a judge to dismiss the case.

Mark Strong Sr. was charged with promotion of prostitution. Police began investigating a woman and the Pura Vida Zumba studio after receiving complaints about possible illegal activities at the site.

In his motion to dismiss, Strong's lawyer said prosecutors have failed to comply with the rules of discovery. In the complaint filed Thursday, defense attorney Daniel Lilley wrote that all discovery should have been provided by Aug. 10.

Lilley questioned how his client could be charged with promotion of prostitution when no one has been charged with prostitution in the case.

Prosecutors tell The Portland Press Herald, the state will address Lilley's motion in court.
