About a dozen people got together Tuesday for a history lesson in Brewer.
Dick Campbell is one of the people who designed the Freedom Park in Brewer.
After giving a presentation a couple of weeks ago to the Brewer Historical Society, members decided they wanted to visit the park.
The Chamberlain Freedom Park was designed as a replica of Gettysburg's Little Round Top, a major landmark in the Civil War.
A statue of Joshua Chamberlain also sits in the park.
He commanded the 20th Maine Volunteers in that war at Gettysburg.
But the park is also home to another piece of American history.
Many believe the site was also once a stop on the underground railroad.
Dick Campbell explains, "We also dedicated the north to the freedom statue and that has now become the official state sight for the underground railroad."
You can find the park at the corner of State and Main Street in Brewer.
It's free and open to the public.
