Law Enforcement Try a New Occupation for a Day

Ellsworth - Law enforcement officials are used to serving the community on the streets, but on Monday, police could be serving your dinner.

The Ellsworth Police Department, Maine State Police, Game State Warden, and various other law enforcement offices will participate in Tip-A-Cop.

The officials will become the waiters and waitresses at Pat's Pizza in Ellsworth. They'll be taking orders from 5 - 9 pm. All of the money they make in tips will be donated to the special olympics. Participants are excited and are ready to laugh at themselves.

Ellsworth Police Department Patrolman, Bart Tokas, said, "It's a community support event. It also shows the officers are people too and it gives us a one-on-one with people. It also builds a good rapport">

Local law enforcement do fundraisers throughout the summer to raise money for the special olympics. However, the tip-a-cop program usually brings in the most money. This will be the first year the Ellsworth Police participate.
