Bangor -
An upcoming downtown Bangor business is spreading the word that it's coming soon in a very eye-catching way.
11 Central is a new restaurant opening on Central Street.
New windows will be installed in the next couple of weeks.
For now, they decided to have a little fun and asked a locally-known artist, Issac Wright, to put his talents to work.
The grafitti-art was approved by the city.
It took Wright about four hours to do.
While he was painting, some folks downtown were concerned that they might have a vandal on their hands.
"I was in Portland yesterday and my phone was ringing of the hook with people, 'Do you know that someone is in broad daylight?' I know the police stopped and asked him if he was supposed to be here doing this, which is kind of fun. Creates a little bit of excitement," said co-owner Brett Settle.
"I was concerned that there was some mischief or damage, but no, it was very intentional they said. Then within a day it was white-washed and he was out here yesterday with his spray paint doing grafitti-art, and I'll tell you, I think the city needs a little splash and flash of color," said Jeff Silverstein, a lawyer who's office is on Central Street.
No set plans yet for what will happen to the art when the windows are fixed.
Settle hopes that it eventually gets displayed in the restaurant, which is set to open late September.
