Bangor - Of all the places to camp in Maine, most wouldn't choose Bangor. But these aren't just campers, they're festival goers, spending the weekend partying at Kahbang. The "Kah-Kampsite" is just a short bus ride away from the waterfront, located on outer Hammond Street.

"We've never been here before. We just saw it online, came on by, brought a car," said Jeff Khoury of New Brunswick.

It's been a bit of a rainy weekend and the campground has a lot of empty space, but those staying there aren't letting any of that spoil their fun.

"Everything's wet, but we went and got rain boots. We went to Walmart and now we're good," explained Mary Emerson and Zoe Theriault of Lewiston-Auburn.

Khoury and his friend Sam Gaucher added, "The campsite's pretty cool. The rain kind of dampered on it last night, just a little bit, but not enough to ruin our party. No, it could be more full, but it's still a pretty sweet crowd so that's good."

Because it's a small crowd, they're getting to know their fellow campers.

"You can't really find any better neighbors and stuff like that. It's been really good, we meet new friends everywhere," said Tyler Chandler of Nova Scotia.

And this is where the party goes when the waterfront gets quiet. On the campground's "Insomniac Stage," bands begin playing at 1:00 AM.

"The party went on right until like 4 o'clock in the morning," said Chandler.

Emerson said, "It was a lot crazier kind of than the actual show just because everyone that's here knew they were staying here so they're all crazy."

KahBang organizers made sure to include a camping option because at larger festivals around the country, it's an essential component.

"If we didn't do camping, we really wouldn't be a festival, you know," said KahBang Director of Community Outreach Chris Rudolph

At only four years old, KahBang is Bangor's festival, and camping is just part of the experience.
