Belfast -
On Friday, a jury heard closing statements in the case of 20-year-old Luke Bryant, charged with manslaughter for killing his friend last year.
On February 19, 2011, 19-year-old Tyler Seaney died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
The state argued in closing statements that Bryant was trying to scare Seaney in a game the two often played by pointing unloaded guns at each other and pulling the trigger. Both sides agree that Bryant was unaware that the gun was loaded.
The state referenced an interview played in court on Thursday where Bryant admits to police that he was in fact trying to scare that night.
Bryant's defense attorney argued in his closing statements that his client only made that confession because he was tired and felt like he needed to tell police what they wanted to hear.
The defense has maintained throughout the trial that Bryant was cleaning his shotgun when it accidentally discharged as Seaney walked into the room.
The jury began deliberating at 10:15 Friday morning.
