Water Levels Lowered In Kennebec River For Planned Dam Maintenance

Waterville - People in Waterville may have noticed the water in parts the Kennebec River is a lot lower than usual.

Joanne Walsh, an official at Brookfield Power, the company that owns the Hydro Kennebec Dam, says the river was lowered so they can do some planned maintenance below the normal water line.

Boaters in the area should know that the water is about 15-feet lower than normal.

The area was searched by police recently as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 20-month-old Waterville toddler Ayla Reynolds.

Walsh said his most recent lowering of the water now has nothing to do with that case.
