Waterville City Councilors Vote on Police Station Location

Waterville - The City of Waterville is a step closer to having a new police station.

City councilors voted unanimously Tuesday night to build the station at Colby Circle.

City officials still need to finalize negotiations with the seller and do a site examination before it's a done deal, but the city manager says if all that goes well, they'll begin the process.

The final project budget hasn't been calculated, but it's expected to be in the $3,000,000 range. The plan is to have a meeting on the final budget in two weeks.

Council members voted back in February to build the police station across the street from the current location at Head of Falls, but changed their mind after that plan upset some members of the public.

The city manager says no location is perfect, but the Colby Circle location seems like the best fit.
