Biddeford Man Facing Gun Charges to Undergo Psychiatric Evaluation

3

Alfred - A Maine man authorities said had an assault rifle, a shotgun and four handguns as well as newspaper clippings about the fatal theater shootings in Colorado in his car when he was stopped for driving 112 miles per hour has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

A state judge on Tuesday ordered the evaluation for 49-year-old Timothy Courtois of Biddeford, who allegedly told police when he was stopped July 22 he was on his way to New Hampshire to kill a former employer and had taken a loaded gun to a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at a Saco theater.

He was stopped two days after someone killed 12 at a Colorado showing of the same movie.

Relatives tell The Portland Press Herald, that Courtois suffers from mental illness.
