Swanville -
From a day at the beach to a cookout on the deck, there is no shortage of activities that just seem quintessentially summer. But in Swanville, some families have their own warm weather traditions.
"We were here last year and we had a really fun day with my mother, Toren's grandmother," said Fawn Andersen, who drove up to Maine from Massachusetts to visit Swan Lake State Park with her husband and son.
The family was just one of many who stopped by the park to partake in the appropriately dubbed, Family Fun Day, a day for kids and parents to enjoy music, games, and as 9-year old Kaeden Roberts pointed out, food. "I've been eating popcorn," said a smiling Roberts.
The park has been playing host to the event for the last five years. Park Manager Corrie Dimmit told us, "It's a great way to get the community here and let them know that we appreciate their support. Without their support and volunteers and the local community, things would be a lot different."
The 67-acre spot is one of the state's smallest parks, but staff hope events like Family Fun Day will draw more crowds to the area.
"I think it's been wonderful, said 9-year old Sarah Gent.
