Belfast -
Hundreds of motorcycles hit the road in Belfast for a good cause on Saturday. It was part of a charity ride for Greg Bowen, who lost his battle of bone cancer last year.
Three years ago, the Bowen family started this fundraiser to raise money for people battling cancer in Waldo county. Greg died just one day after the race in 2011 This year, the name has been changed to the Gregory Bowen Memorial Motorcycle Ride.
The Bowen family says that the support has been incredible.
Mike Bowen, Sr, Greg's Father, said "So the support is very important and we can't thank our friends and this community enough for this event. Biker's hearts are made of gold."
Sandy Merrifield, Event Organizer, said "It's gas money, food, it's your family taking time away from work/ So we're trying to cover a tiny bit of that part of the financial expenses in Waldo County."
While over 100 bikers signed up for the ride, they could also sign up to be a bone marrow donor.
Six out of every 10 patients who need a marrow transplant will not get one.
