Shawmut, Waterville -
A man from Shawmut accused of threatening his girlfriend with a knife pleaded not guilty Friday.
45-year-old James Chartrand is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violating conditions of release.
Waterville police went to the Budget Host Inn around 2 a.m. Friday after a friend of the girlfriend called police.
They say they saw Chartrand and his girlfriend walking out of a room and arrested Chartrand.
Police say they found a folding knife in Chartrand's pants that he allegedly pulled on the woman.
She wasn't hurt in the incident.
Chartrand's being held in the Kennebec County jail on $2,000 bail.
He's scheduled to go on trial in September.
