Man Wanted in Connection to Bangor Burglaries Arrested in Florida

Bangor - The Bangor man wanted in connection with several downtown burglaries has been arrested in Florida.

Police say Jonathan Matute, 18, tried to steal tools from a Sears in Florida and then assaulted a security officer.

Florida police reportedly found the stolen car from the University of Maine that police believed Matute was driving.

Bangor police were looking for Matute after finding computer equipment, cameras, cash and checks made out to businesses, in a Clinton Street apartment.

Matute is charged with Battery and Grand Theft Auto in Florida. More charges are expected once additional information is presented to a Grand Jury. Police tell us the process of extradition is ongoing.
