Portland - Maine native Eleanor Logan has won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics.

Logan was part of the U.S. women's eight rowing team, which held off Canada to win the gold medal Thursday on Dorney Lake in Windsor, England.

The U.S. won in a time of 6 minutes, 10.59 seconds, finishing a half-length ahead of Canada. Netherlands took the bronze.

The 24-year-old Logan is from Boothbay Harbor and also won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.

The U.S. eight team hasn't lost a competitive race in six years.
