Bangor -
Games are a big part of the job at Hollywood Casino in Bangor and this week employees get to play.
"We've had some roulette going on, we've also had some one card stud going on, a little bit of poker," said Bethanie Archer, who works in IT at Hollywood Casino.
It's called "The Hollywood Games," loosely themed around the Olympic Games, where instead of athletes the competitors are workers at the casino.
"It was fun, we had a good time today," said Archer.
Mixed in with all the fun is some education about responsible gaming.
"Learning more about those attributes of gaming that make the experience even better, to know how much to wager, to know to stop playing when it stops being fun, and we also do some training on some alcohol service as well, so that people are aware of their surroundings," said Hollywood Casino General Manager John Osborne.
Hollywood Casino does some kind of training like this every year for Responsible Gaming Education Week. Making it competitive among the employees is just added motivation for them to take part.
"It is a reinforcer of ideas and though we just take a week to do it, it's actually something that goes on year round and all of our employees, and I feel like I can speak for them, we just want people to enjoy our product, but to do it responsibly," said Kyle Tardy, training coordinator at Hollywood Casino and a member of the responsible gaming committee.
At the end of the week, the department that scores the most points during the Hollywood Games leaves with the gold medal. But training organizers hope all of the employees leave with a little more knowledge.
