Bangor -
With the start of the school year right around the corner, Bangor area groups are lending a hand to send students back with the supplies they need.
Penquis and Manna Ministries have opened up the registry for their school supply drives.
There are no income requirements, any family can sign up.
"We just started signing people up last week and we're already starting to go through the roof higher than last year so we know we're going to have high numbers this year," said Bill Rae with Manna Ministries.
Registration opened about a week ago at Penquis and 7-hundred people have already signed up.
With the demand comes the need for donations and they're hoping the community can deliver.
"We really need donations, our goal is to collect 1,000, we have about three hundred," said Renae Muscatell with Penquis.
Penquis and Manna aren't the only ones hosting supply drives.
Cumulus Radio's Z 107.3 is partnering with local businesses to hosts this year's Stuff the Bus campaign. You can find out more information on their Facebook page.
Walgreen's pharmacies across the nation have teamed up with the Kids in Need Foundation to host a national school supply drive.
More than 7,900 stores in all 50 states are participating.
