Anson Man Set for Sentencing for Kidnapping and Sexual Assault That Took Place in Pennsylvania

3

A Maine man is set to be sentenced by a federal judge in what authorities said was a kidnapping and sexual assault involving a woman in Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest.

Mike Beaulieu, 37, of Anson, Maine, pleaded guilty in March to kidnapping and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence in the August 2010 attack on a couple visiting the Kinzua Point Information Center.

Federal court documents show faces a life sentence when he appears before U.S. District Judge Sean McLaughlin in Erie Wednesday afternoon.

Beaulieu was arrested in New Brunswick, Canada, after the victims said he accosted them at gunpoint, tied up the man and raped the woman.

Beaulieu served four years in prison after a 2005 conviction for gross sexual assault in Maine, where he's a registered sex offender.
