Newport -
RSU 19, the school district for Newport, Corinna, St. Albans and surrounding communities, is severely short of cash.
Newport's town manager sent a letter to school board directors and other town managers in the district, telling them he found out the district is $1.2-million in the hole.
He said he found out by talking with a school vendor who claims he hasn't been paid in three months, and is owed $120,000.
TV 5 called Superintendent Greg Potter, but he's on vacation and did not return our calls.
We're told more information on the shortage will be shared at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, August 14th, at Nokomis High School. The meeting starts at 6:30pm.
