Motorcycle Ride to Benefit Waterville Humane Society

3

Waterville - Motorycle riders in Waterville are hitting the streets for a good cause this weekend.

They'll be raising money for the Waterville Humane Society.

Organizer, Gary Runnells, said he wants to help pet owners offset the cost of spaying and neutering their animals.

He hopes if there are less fees up front, more people will adopt from the shelter.

"I've seen dogs that have been there for months since February, January, February, five or six years old. They're good dogs, but nobody wants to pay $200 to get a dog spayed that might be around for five years, six years," said Runnells.

The ride will take off from Elm Plaza in Waterville Saturday, August 4 at 9:30 a.m.

They'll follow a 150 mile route that ends at the humane society on Webb Road.

Runnells said they hope to raise $1,000 between a raffle and donations.
