Portland -
A New York man accused of fatally stabbing a Maine man and injuring his wife last year refused to enter a plea at his arraignment after claiming the Maine court had no jurisdiction in the case.
A judge in Cumberland County Criminal Court on Monday entered a not guilty plea to a murder charge on behalf of 30-year-old Tareek Hendricks.
Prosecutors say Hendricks killed Robert Stubbs, 40, of Westbrook in April 2011 and injured Stubbs' wife.
Police say Hendricks came to Maine to sell drugs, although he is not facing drug charges.
Hendricks was arrested in Syracuse, N.Y, earlier this month.
The Portland Press Herald reports that Hendricks said he did not want a lawyer.
He is being held without bail pending a bail hearing scheduled for August 9th.
