Police have accused a 22-year-old Sidney man of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl he was babysitting and recording the act on his cellphone.
Eric Bard was ordered held on $100,000 bail during an initial court appearance via video at Waterville District Court on Monday following his arrest Friday.
Bard is charged with gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact and sexual exploitation of a minor under 12. If he makes bail, he is barred from having contact with the alleged victim and her mother, or any child under age 18 and is also barred from using the Internet and computers.
The Kennebec Journal, reports that a search warrant executed on Bard's home yielded a memory card with images of the alleged abuse that police say occurred between September and March.
