Maine will receive $2.4 million from the federal government to improve ferry service.
Senator Susan Collins says the money will come from the Department of Transportation.
$1.2 million will go to the Casco Bay Island service in Portland to build a new ferry. It'll replace one that's currently in use.
The other half of the money will be given to the Maine State Ferry Service.
That'll be used to build a new ferry support system in Frenchboro.
