Augusta -
An environmental group released its report card for Maine's lawmakers Friday morning.
Each year Maine Conservation Voters grades lawmakers on how they voted on environmental issues.
46 lawmakers received perfect scores. Meanwhile, for the first time since 2006, two lawmakers were given zeroes.
Republicans Heather Sirocki of Scarborough and Beth O'Connor of Berwick received zeroes.
The environmental group says Maine's legislature, led by Republicans, is headed in the wrong direction environmentally. Maureen Drouin, Executive Director of Maine Conservation Voters, says business growth and the environment can coexist. "There's nothing that says if we pollute more of our rivers we're going to bring more jobs here," Drouin said Friday. "I think that it's sort of backward thinking. I think we've shown that our tourism industry, our fishing industry, our forestry industry, the emergence of farming that's all dependent on a strong natural resource base."
This is the 26th annual environmental scorecard. You can see how your lawmakers did by logging on to http://mainescorecard.org/publication/?i=120297
