Waterville Man Escorted from Batman Movie in Bangor after Colorado-Shooting Comments

3

Waterville, Bangor - A man was escorted from Hoyts Cinema in Bangor Wednesday night after making comments related to the shooting at a movie theater in Colorado last week.

Authorities tell us a Waterville man bought tickets for "The Dark Knight Rises" for himself and his daughter.

Police say that's when he made a joke about the Colorado shooting, asking what part of the movie it happened during.

The man left and when he came back, theater management called police.

Officers escorted the man out, but didn't arrest him or find any weapons.

Sgt. Paul Edwards says even though nothing came of the situation, theater management handled things the right way.

"I think the theater did the right thing. It's their theater; they can certainly have, ah, ask to leave who they want to. When you make a comment like that, based on something so serious that has happened just so recently, that kind of response is probably absolutely, um, expected."

We're told the man left the theater without issue.

It's the only incident of its kind bangor police have responded to.
