Rockland Man Found Guilty of Killing his Ex-Girlfriend

3

Rockland - Jurors found Arnold Diana guilty of murdering his ex girlfriend, Katrina Windred, after three hours of deliberation.

Prosecutors proved Diana strangled 48-year-old Windred in his apartment in November 2010. They say he wrapped her body in a blanket and dumped it on the side of a road, while her 11-year-old son waited in the car and later, in Diana's apartment.

The prosecution also claims Diana's and Windred's cell phone records prove no unknown number called Windred between the hours of 5 and 6, when the defense claims Windred received a call to go out with friends. Diana said after that phone call, she took a nap in Diana's bedroom.

The defense said there's evidence to suggest that another ex-girlfriend of Diana's committed the crime out of jealousy. Minnieann Miller-Wigmore testified she and Diana had an on-again, off-again relationship for two years.

The defense said when Miller-Wigmore was questioned by police she was shown a picture of the blanket and knew that there was a body wrapped inside of it and identified the blanket as being hers. They also found Windred's blood in her truck.

In the prosecutions rebuttal, they said there is no way Wigmore killed Windred out of jealousy to be with Diana, if she is now framing him.
