3

Portsmouth - A New Hampshire man is being held in Maine in connection with a vicious assault this month that hospitalized another man with a fractured skull and other injuries.

Police say Josiah Mayo, 24, of Portsmouth, has been charged in connection with the assault outside a bar and restaurant at the Vaughan Mall at about 1 a.m. July 15.

Officials said Mayo was arrested on a probation violation and is being held in Maine.

In New Hampshire, police say he's charged with felony assault for kicking the victim in the face, resulting in the fractured skull.
