Day Two for Angus King's 600 Mile Motorcycle Ride and Food Drive

3

Former Maine Governor Angus King took to the road Tuesday.

It was the second day of a 600 mile motorcycle tour throughout Maine.

It's not just an excuse for a summer road trip, though.

Canned goods are also being collected at the different stops, then donated to local food pantries.

King says that getting to travel through Maine by motorcycle makes the trip quite an experience.

"It's a great way to visit with people in smaller towns, as I say. We've been in Eastport, Calais, Houlton, up to, we started in Fort Kent, and then toady in Machais we lunch and just to visit with people is a wonderful way to see Maine. You're very intimately connected to the road when you take a trip like this."

The tour will continue Wednesday down Route 2 to Bethel and finish up on thursday in Kittery.
