Lincolnville House Likely Total Loss After Fire

Lincolnville - Investigators say improper disposal of smoking materials started a fire that swept through a house in Lincolnville.

Lincolnville Fire Chief Jason Peasley says it appears to be a total loss.

Firefighters were called to the home on Salt Pond Lane Sunday afternoon when an employee of a local restaurant spotted flames on the back deck.

The home sit behind Lincolnville Beach. Lincolnville Fire Chief Jason Peasley says a heavy sea breeze fanned the flames.

Homeowner Adam Durkee says he left about two-and-a-half hours before the fire started.

Peasley says when crews arrived, the fire was burning the first and second floors and shooting out the front windows.

Crews Northport, Belmont, Searsmont and Camden were called in to help.
