Early Morning Fire Destroys Home in Carmel

3

Carmel - Fire crews were called out early Monday morning for a fire on the Damascus Road in Carmel.

There were people inside the home when the blaze broke out, but everyone did make it out safely.

The call came in around 4 o'clock.

Crews were able to knock down the flames, but it appears the two story home will be a total loss.

(Michael Azevedo-Carmel Fire Cheif) "one of my guys spoke to them and said they were doing laundry in the middle of the night, woke up to smoke, kind of where the fire looked like it started when I got here. So that's where I'm leaning to at this time, we've called the Fire Marshal's office to come in they're going to come in as soon as we're done and get things out."

Backup Crews had to be called in for more coverage. Seven towns in total were called to the fire.

They've now said that the doing of laundry had nothing to do with the fire. It'd be nice if you all updated your information instead of repeating a fireman's first impression as fact.
