Biddeford -
They spent a week preparing for it, but today, the best high school seniors in the state took to the field in Biddeford for the 23rd Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic. It was a record setting year even before kickoff, with 73,000 dollars being raised for the Shriners Hospitals, the most ever, so you knew the game had to be special!
It started off with the East taking control of things. Just two minutes into to the game, Fitzpatrick Award winner Jordan Hersom of Leavitt goes to the air and finds Sam Dexter of Messalonskee and the East was on the board early 8-0.
Later in the first quarter the West trying to top the East, by going up top. Cheverus QB Cam Olson finds Jack Cooleen of Falmouth and he's inside the five. Olson scored a play later. The East still up 8-6.
The East added to its lead when John Bapst quarterback Deven Romain finds Alonzo Connor of Gardiner over the middle and he's down near the goalline. Jeff Turcotte scored a few plays later.
But after that, the West rolled over the East, scoring the next four touchdowns. They had over 500 yards of offense on the day and they ran the spread offense to perfection. The East fell short in this one with the final score, 48-24.
