Carmel Farmhouse Destroyed in Overnight Fire

Carmel - A farmhouse was destroyed and a firefighter was taken to the hospital after an overnight fire in Carmel.

Carmel Fire Chief Michael Azevedo said it happened just before midnight on Saturday on Hampden Road.

We're told one person was there at the time and made it out safely. The house is a total loss.

Crews from at least ten towns were called in to assist with the fire or cover for the towns fighting the flames. They were on scene until 4:30 Saturday morning.

We're told one firefighter became sick and was taken to the hospital, possibly for dehydration.

Azevedo said he's not sure what started the fire, but it does not appear suspicious.
