Bangor, Brewer, Blue Hill -
A local company known for gas stations and car washes is offering a new convenience.
For about $5, Fido can now get a grooming in the comfort of a pet wash.
About the last thing on Dozier's doggie to-do list is getting a bath.
Until his owner Jennifer Brown started bringing him to the new pet wash at Trade Winds gas station on Union Street in Bangor.
"It's cheaper than bringing him to a groomer and it's really not that hard. It's definitely easier than trying to do it with him at home, trying to get him in a tub."
Manager Tony Brown says he thought his boss was joking when he said he wanted to expand the car wash idea to dogs.
The company also installed pet washes in Brewer and Blue Hill.
"Right now our company has three dog washes. we're the only ones north of Pennsylvania to have any, so it'd be nice for other places to get them."
Even customers just filling up with gas can appreciate the ease of it all.
As Keith Lewis says, "You got Red Box, you got Blockbuster, why not? I think it's an excellent idea for people that just don't want to take the dog out and give him a spray down. It's convenient."
Add Jean Marc Desbiens, "If you come to the car wash, you wash your car and bring your dog or cat with it. And then you can do both things at the same time."
Just like at the car wash, there are lots of options here - including flea and tick treatment and a skunk deodorizer.
But you don't need to pitch any of those extras to Dozier, who now enjoys the chance to be pampered.
"He was having a good old time - he loved it!"
Manager Tony Brown says he sees about 12 to 15 pet washes a day between the Bangor and Brewer locations.
