The lawyer for a prominent Maine defense attorney accused of calling in bomb threats to two elementary schools says he has entered a not guilty on behalf of his client by mail.
Ronald Hoffman of Sumner was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Farmington District Court, but instead entered his plea via mail.
The 52-year-old Hoffman's attorney tells the Sun Journal, he also requested the case be transferred to Franklin County Superior Court for a jury trial.
Hoffman, who practices out of Rumford, is charged with two counts of misdemeanor terrorizing for allegedly making bomb threats March 29 to Cushing and Academy Hill schools in Wilton. The threats forced the evacuation of 363 students, most between 3 and 7.
The motivation for the threats is unclear.
