Former US Senator Visits Northport to Discuss Future of Biochemical Research

Scientists and students gathered in Northport to discuss the future of biochemical research.

Biogeomon is an international conference. It's been held for 18 years alternating between Europe and the US.

Maine hosted this year's get together.

"Clearly the reason why something like this would be able to come to Maine is because the University of Maine is recognized for its environmental research and strength," said Ivan Fernandez, a Professor at UMaine.

Former US Senator George Mitchell was the keynote speaker.

UMaine is home to the senator george mitchell center which focuses on environmental research and graduate education outreach.
