P.O.W. Flag to Fly Over Blaine House

Augusta - A prisoner-of-war flag is being raised at the governor's mansion to honor and remember Mainers who were prisoners of war or went missing in action while serving the country.

Richard Giroux, commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Old Orchard Beach, will present the flag to first lady Ann LePage during a flag-raising ceremony Wednesday afternoon at the Blaine House in Augusta.

The flag presentation is a kick-off to the first POW/MIA Recognition Day, which is scheduled in September to pay tribute to the more than 500 POWs and MIAs from Maine.
