Ribbon Cutting at the New Piscataquis County Courthouse

Dover-Foxcroft - A new and improved Piscataquis county courthouse opened its doors to the public today.

It features a new security system and completely renovated rooms. The project began in may of last year...we're told it finished on time...and under budget.

The original courthouse was built in in 1938. However, the security you'll see today is a lot more advanced.

Chief Justice of Maine Supreme Court, Leigh Saufley, said, "The public now comes into a place that is respectful to the serious things that are going on in their lives, which gives them the attention their issues should really be given."

In addition to the updated courtrooms. There are also two new clerks' offices, energy efficiency and new technology.
