Camden Area Loses Great Friend

3

Hope - Ken Bailey of Hope passed away Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.

Bailey was a jack of all trades.

He was a Master Maine Guide.

Over the years, he was editor of The Camden Herald, served as a selectman, and was a reserve officer for the Camden Police Department.

He was Camden's Parks and Rec Director in 1991 and had the idea to launch the National Toboggan Championships, which are still going strong today.

Bailey also was the longtime emcee of the Sea Goddess Pageant at the Lobster Festival in Rockland.

But his true love was Megunticook Lake. As Lake Warden, Bailey was often seen on his boat, watching over it for more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy, two children, and five grandchildren.

Bailey was 62 years old.
