Orono -
Middle school students with an interest in engineering have spent part of their summer at UMaine in Orono.
The Maine Summer Transportation Institute teaches students about opportunities in the transportation industry.
The camp is funded by money from the Federal Highway Administration.
The curriculum is intense and, according to the students, a lot of fun.
"When you do one thing, you're not going to do just that one engineering, you probably get a little hint of each engineering so that's why this camp is perfect," said student Ian Bernier of Verona Island.
Transportation camp runs through next week.
