Organizers Promise Bigger & Better July 4th Celebrations for Bangor

Bangor - The city of Bangor is gearing up for what organizers are calling their biggest Fourth of July celebration to date.

Members of the Bangor Fourth of July Corporation have been working tirelessly since last year to add more activities and events for people to enjoy this Wednesday.

The group's president, Tony Bernatche, said he thinks everything from the annual parade to the fireworks show will make the city's festivities the best in the state.

"We felt we needed to step it up a lot, and over the last four years we have really done that. We want Bangor to be the place to be on the Fourth of July. To be all honest with you, I'm tired of my friends telling me, 'I'm going to camp to see the fireworks on the lake.' This year, Bangor, Maine is the place to be," said Bernatche.

The parade kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Acme Road in Brewer and will march across the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge to Bangor, ending on Exchange Street.

The day's celebrations will end with a bang on the waterfront. The city's fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m. Bernatche promises it will be the biggest display in the state.
