"97.1 The Bear" Collecting Beds for Families in Need

3

Bangor - Many Maine families just don't have enough beds to go around.

It's an issue that was brought to the attention of the staff at radio station 97.1 The Bear.

They want to help families struggling to make ends meet and foster families without enough beds for new foster children. So they teamed up with two agencies, Family and Children Together and Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, to help those familes out.

On Saturday during the Big Bear Bed Bonanza, you can drop off new or gently used beds or make a donation so that beds can be bought.

"If you've got a used bed, they're taking gently used beds. If it's a good mattress and in good shape and you don't need it anymore, there are families that need it. In fact, there was a concern at first about whether or not we'd have enough storage for these beds, but the agencies I'm working with say the waiting list is long. As soon as we get them in, they're going out," said Paul Dupuis, Program Director and Morning Co-Host at 97.1 The Bear.

The Big Bear Bed Bonanza is Saturday, June 30 at Sam's Club in Bangor from 9:00 AM - Noon. There will be fun activities for kids and raffles.
