Old Town -
A new fireworks store in Old Town will be open just in time for the 4th of July.
Short Fuse Fireworks on Stillwater Avenue got the final go-ahead from the state fire marshal's office Friday for a license.
Owner William Sewall has been working on the store for months.
Fireworks sales to the public became legal in January.
Sewell says he has about 70 kinds of fireworks for everything from small backyard displays to large community events.
He says he's already had dozens of people coming through this week to check out the selection.
"I get a lot of even older men coming in here. Their eyes get wide and they say it's like being a kid in a candy shop. I think it's that way for a lot of people. It's brand new - people have been looking forward to this for a long time."
Sewall says he's planning to open the store for a few hours Friday evening.
Regular hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
It's in the former Pizza Dome restaurant on Stillwater Avenue.
