A week after he fell to his death rescuing climbers on Mount Rainier the body of Ranger Nick Hall remains on the mountain.
Weather and avalanche danger have prevented a helicopter and other rangers from returning to the site on the 11,300-foot level of the 14,411-foot mountain.
If conditions are favorable and safe, the park says it will make a recovery attempt Thursday. The forecast calls for increasing clouds with showers through the weekend.
The park also announced that a private memorial service for Hall would be held Friday morning at the Jackson Visitor Center at the Paradise ranger station.
