New Saftey Features in Bangor Following Fatal Accident

Bangor - After the fatal hit-and-run accident on Main Street in Bangor in June, the city took a look at the area to determine how to make it safer.

Public Works Director Dana Wardwell says they decided to install a new crosswalk with signal posts on each side of the street near Shaw's Supermarket.

Streetlights were also added to improve visibility.

The crosswalk should be fully operational by this weekend.

Yes, this is an extremely dangerous crosswalk . Especially when turning to the right coming out of Shaws. The hedges need to be trimmed way back there also. To make pedestrians more visible. I have seen kids on bikes and skateboards just sail right thru there without stopping. I will be happy to see some improvment here.
