Forum Held In Orono As Department of Agriculture And Conservation Merge

3

Orono - The Maine Department of Agriculture is merging with the Department of Conservation.

It's all part of Governor LePage's plan to make delivery of state services more efficient.

Friday in Orono, the Department of Agriculture's Commissioner, Walt Whitcomb, was on hand to listen to what Mainers had to say about the merger.

People at the meeting wanted to know how the new department will seamlessly join programs from the old departments.

Another concern was how the department can use state resources to do a better job.

There will be a commissioner and two deputy commissioners under the consolidation.

We're told no one will lose their job.

The merger will become official on September 1st.
