Holden -
Holden is giving active duty military members a break.
Earlier this year, the Legislature passed a law letting municipalities across maine exempt active military from vehicle excise tax.
In April, Holden Town Councilors decided to do just that.
The only requirement is a note from a commanding officer saying the military member has been, or will be, out of the state for more than 180 days.
Holden Town Manager John Butts says "It's the least we can do for some of our military personnel. Anything we can do to help them, we believe in it, we support it."
The Town Manager says they've already gotten a couple of exemption requests.
