Maine Mom Saves a Father and Daughter from Drowning

3

Skowhegan - A Maine mother of three is being credited with saving the life of a Massachusetts man and his daughter by pulling them from the deep waters of a Maine lake.

Renee Dostie of Clinton was at Lake George in Skowhegan on Thursday when she saw the child's head bobbing up and down about 50 feet from shore. A woman started screaming that her daughter was in trouble.

The 30-year-old Dostie tells the Morning Sentinel she jumped in not even realizing there was also man in the water.

She says the roughly 5-year-old girl was "freaking out" and pushing her father under trying to stay afloat. She hauled both to shore. The girl was fine, but 33-year-old Paul Borneman III of Nantucket, Mass. was taken to a hospital and held overnight.
