Property Values And Noise Complaints Among Bangor Quarry Concerns

3

Bangor - The qualm over Bangor's quarries continued at Wednesday's Business and Economic Development Committee meeting.

At the meeting, the committee reviewed the city's quarry and blasting permitting process.

Neighbors of the new quarry on Union Street say they're concerned about their property values and excessive noise.

None of those neighbors were at Wednesday's meeting, but one of the co-owners of the quarry was.

He says he's more than willing to talk with neighbors to come up with a solution.

Rodney Gardner explains, "There's been a lot of talks of the quarry needs to go and obviously that's not acceptable to me. Beyond that, I'll do everything I can to co-exist."

There is currently a case before a judge, appealing the city's planning board decision to allow a quarry in Bangor.

The city manager says she doesn't know when a ruling on that case will be issued.

"None of those neighbors were at Wednesday's meeting." That would be because we didn't know about it, or you can be sure we would have been there. This, apparently, is what passes for coming up with a solution.
